In 2011 Rachel won YTV’s “Virtual Next Star Competition.” She was chosen from over 3000 competitors as the winning vocalist in the Canada-wide competition and received over 150 000 votes from across Canada! As the winner, she was flown out to Toronto to appear on the live finale show.
Since then, Rachel’s distinctive voice and effervescent personality have attracted the attention of highly respected songwriters and producers such as Rob Wells (Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez), Matthew Tishler (Disney/Nickelodeon), Tyson Kuteyi (Juno Award winning producer – Nelly Furtado, Keshia Chante), SA Trackworks (Elise Estrada, Laura Pausini), and Vincent Degiorgio (N Sync) of Chapter 2 Productions. Her powerful vocals have been likened to many seasoned performers such as Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Jessie J, and most recently as “an intriguing combination of Avril Lavigne and Icona Pop.”
Rachel is as entertaining to watch as she is to listen to. An award-winning dancer with 15 years performance experience, Rachel infuses her live performances with a bold, youthful energy that captivates her audiences. Performing since the age of 9 and winning her first regional vocal competition by age 10, Rachel has never looked back! With multiple wins at both local and national vocal competitions, Rachel’s talent has been highlighted in the press with features in the Edmonton Journal, Edmonton Examiner, Metro Magazine, and Canadian Music Blog. Rachel has performed in front of thousands across Alberta at numerous venues: conference centres, exhibition halls, sports arenas, theatre stages, and coffee houses.
In 2014 Rachel was nominated for 2 Edmonton Music Awards: Rising Star and Pop Recording of the Year (for her track “Spotlight (Radio Remix)” – written and produced by acclaimed Edmonton production duo Dan Davidson and Ari Mastoras of Hands Up! Music). “Spotlight (Radio Remix)” was also selected to be one of the featured tracks on The 2014 Edmonton Music Awards Compilation C.D.
Rachel’s vocal talents continue to be highlighted in 2015. She has been selected as the winner of Yangaroo DMDS, RDR Music Group, and Canadian Music Week’s Street Idol 2015 – “The Search for the Most ‘Radio Friendly’ Canadian Recording” (for Big & Loud). This opportunity enables Rachel to release her new material in both the Canadian and U.S. markets. Rachel has also been chosen as one of the top 5 winners of HOT 107 Edmonton’s HOT Factor 2015. She has received promotion on HOT 107 and has performed at the annual HOT Factor Block Party opening for Kardinal Offishall and Mia Martina. Once again Rachel has been nominated for 2 Edmonton Music Awards for 2015: Rising Star and Pop Recording of the Year (for Big & Loud).
With the signing of a major licensing/distribution deal with ToCorea Music & Entertainment (South Korea) and numerous awards recognizing her exceptional talent, Rachel’s musical momentum is building as she continues to establish herself as “one of the best rising pop stars in the whole country.” (Canadian Music Blog)
